Journeyman and Apprentice License

FAQ's

If I already hold a Masters or Limited Electrical License in Delaware, do I need to get the Journeyman license? -  No

How much does the Journeyman license cost? - $60.00 (Journeyman) $50.00 (Apprentice).

Can I send my application in electronic form? - No, the state doesn't have the capacity to capture any information you enter on the application. All applications have to be mailed in and notarized.

Do I need the contractor to fill out my employment history?  - No, if you have your State of Delaware of NJATC Apprenticeship certificate that will prove 8000 hours of OJT. (Both the State of Delaware and IBEW Apprenticeship programs both require 8000 of OJT for journeyman status.

Do I need to get insurance?  - No, Journeyman Licenses Only allows the holder to work under the supervision of a Limited or Master Electrician. You are NOT allowed to do electric work unsupervised or call for inspections.

All applications need to be completed ASAP due to the anticipated 3,000 – 4,000 applications by June 30, 2012. The State will issue licenses as applications are approved, but the licenses will only be valid after July 1, 2012, when the law goes into effect.

The last page of application only needs to be filled out if they don't have a completion certificate.
